Flood Mitigation Update 00:02:26

Watershed Program Manager Kevin Olvany of the Canandaigua Lake Watershed Council with provide a brief update of activities that have occurred since the join City/Town meeting on September 20th.


Impact of the Pesticide ban in City parks 00:11:22

As pesticide use in City parks has been banned for seven (7) years, Councilmember White requested and update as to how it has impacted the parks and operations. Stephanie Crim, Parks Maintenance Supervisor, ISA Certified Arborist, NYS Certified Nursery & Landscape Professional (CNLP) prepared the attached memorandum for City Council review and discussion.


Solar EV Charging Station Deployment 00:28:24

The City was awarded a NYSDEC Municipal Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Infrastructure Grant that paid 100% of the cost of four (4) solar electric vehicle charging stations that are located at City Hall, Niagara Street Parking Lot, Lakefront Park Parking Lot, and Muar Street Parking Lot. On October 11th, these charging stations were installed, with the charging station located at City Hall causing a great deal of public opinion related its location within historic Downtown Canandaigua. One of the benefits of these charging stations is that they can be relocated and City Staff plans to move the City Hall charging station, provided that it is approved by the NYSDEC.


Ghosts of Roseland Signage 00:44:24

Via Resolution #2023-012, the City Council approved the installation of a sculpture on the un-utilized stanchion in Canandaigua Lake off the shore of Lakefront Park that would be funded by private funds and/or grants. The group that is fundraising for the public art installation, is now requesting approval for a sign in Lakefront Park to promote the project.


Court Parking Changes 00:53:36

Current two parking spaces in the off-street parking area on West Ave adjacent to City Hall are restricted to police parking only between of 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. This is to facilitate the safe transport of from the Ontario County Jail to court appearances. The Court has increased its operations beyond these hours and has requested that one of these be changed to restrict parking from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
