As reported during the six-month financial review, Fire Department overtime was a concern that needed to be addressed and that it was unlikely that there were enough funds within other Fire Department accounts. The 2024 Budget included $160,000 for this purpose and the current expense is $219,893. The overage was caused by an injury/extended sick leave, training at the Fire Academy and a firefighter transferring to another department while maintaining four (4) on-duty. The City Manager is recommending appropriating the remaining 2024 Budget Contingency of $79,500 to cover current over budget amount and provide for overtime for the remaining part of the year.
