As an MS4 Community, the City is required to be in compliance with Federal and State regulations related to the discharge of stormwater. Recent changes to these regulations have resulted in City staff reviewing existing city code. Although the City has used other enforcement mechanisms to ensure compliance, for clarification, City staff recommends adopting the model ordinance for illicit discharges.
Last year the City hired Colliers Engineering to complete a comprehensive hydrologic and hydraulic model analysis of the Sucker Brook sub-watershed to determine peak flow rates during different size storms, to evaluate bridges and channel reaches, develop concept level designs and solutions, evaluate potential homes for buyout due to their location and identify grant opportunities to complete projects. Colliers Engineering will provide an update of the first phase of this flood resiliency engineering study and the next steps. Canandaigua Lake Watershed Council Watershed Program Manager Kevin Olvany will also provide an update as to work that has been done to progress other projects throughout the Sucker Brook sub-watershed which will add to the flood mitigation efforts that the Town and City have completed over the last decade.
