Courtney Austin will be presenting conceptual plans for this summer’s Paints and Recreation program at Kershaw Bathhouse and beach. Over 170 local children participated in this program last summer painting murals at the Fire Station #1. This year’s plan involves murals to celebrate the history of and ecology surrounding Canandaigua Lake and Kershaw Park. City Council reviews and approves the design (previous years have been Fire Station #1 and Jefferson Park). Courtney is proposing to add an additional week of camp from six (6) to seven (7) weeks, July 7, 2025 through August 21, 2025.
The property is currently zoned R-1-B and the applicant, Canandaigua Homes, LLC, is proposing to rezone it to a Planned Unit Development (PUD). The 27-acre parcel fronts Stewart Place, North Road and Kennedy Street. The applicant is proposing 85, 3-to-4-bedroom homes, ranging from 1,700 to 2,300 sf. As this is a deviation from the current zoning, under the PUD regulations, the rezoning takes place through the City Council approving a Sketch Plan. At this point, the City Council should consider whether the Sketch/Concept Plan meets the intent and objectives set forth in the PUD ordinance. Rick Brown, Director of Planning, has prepared a memorandum both detailing the entire review process as well as outlining the factors for consideration with the PUD intent.
Councilmember Mills asked that we discuss dumpster time limits. A neighbor raised concern about a dumpster that another neighbor has had for many months related to a remodel project. The current ordinance reads that a property owner can have a dumpster as long as they are holding an open building permit. Staff recommends the current ordinance, attached, be maintained.
The City’s representative on the Ontario County Board of Supervisors have been invited to the meeting to discuss and update the City Council on the County budget and other County issues that impact the City and its residents.
